Giving Tuesday is a testament to the power of collective goodwill. It demonstrates that when individuals, communities, nonprofits, and corporations come together, they can make a positive impact on the world. Since its humble beginnings in 2012, this global day of giving has grown into a force for change, reminding us all of the importance of compassion, generosity, and the potential for positive transformation in our communities and the world at large.
The concept of Giving Tuesday was introduced by the 92nd Street Y, a cultural and community center in New York City, along with the United Nations Foundation. Giving Tuesday was a response to the consumerism-driven days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Giving Tuesday’s vision was, and still is, simple yet profound: to create a global day of giving that would harness the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage generosity and inspire positive change worldwide. Its mission is to “build a more just and generous world.”
Over the years, Giving Tuesday has gained support from countless nonprofits, corporations, and individuals, transforming it into a global movement. It is celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States, which falls on the first Tuesday of December. However, its impact has transcended borders, inspiring giving in over 70 countries worldwide.
This Giving Tuesday, we ask that you consider donating to The Soondra Foundation, a non-profit bridging the divide between India’s working poor and emergency medical attention and health education. In a world where access to healthcare remains a fundamental right, millions of people in India continue to struggle to receive even the most basic medical care. Your support can change this reality.
